KD-Haus Method of Construction
Beginning in 1981,
KD-Haus has over twenty five years of experience designing and building timber frame houses.
The system uses an exposed timber frame of laminated posts and beams.
This provides an ideal package for a self build project, as it
combines a tried and tested system, with the freedom to plan an individual design.
The timber frame provides the primary structure of the
building and, as a result, the house can have an open plan design without
being confined by the position of load-bearing walls. Large glazed areas are a special feature of this type of frame system.
Almost any design - from a simple rectangular shape to larger and more extensive designs
can be easily accommodated. Conservatories, carports etc. can also be economically included in the design.
Balconies to each gable are provided as a standard feature.
Other design options include varying the roof pitch, modifying the overhang and balconies, and choosing
a material for the external walls - some of our suggested options include:
- timber frame with insulation and render
- timber frame with insulation and fibre-cement self finished
board (providing a render appearance)
- timber frame with insulation and fibre-cement weatherboarding
The
frame is available in a choice of colours including black, white and a variety of attractive timber stains.
